The MCA course in Kristu Jyoti college has been started in the year 2002. The course is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala and approved by AICTE, New Delhi. The College has produced 6 batches of MCA students till now.
The student seeking admission for the MCA course should submit the Application form duly filled in the college office. The application form can be bought from the college office by paying a fee of Rs 500/- or can be downloaded from the college website.
The course shall extend over a period of three academic years consisting of six semesters.
i. The academic year will be divided into two semesters, the odd semester normally commencing at he beginning of the academic year and even semester ending with the academic year.
ii. The course work in the subjects of study of the odd semesters will ordinarily be conducted only in odd semesters and that of even semesters only in even semester.
iii. A candidate may proceed to the course of study of any semester (other than first semester) if and only if he has completed the course in the previous semester and has registered for the examination of the previous semester.
iv. A candidate who is required to repeat the course of any semester for want of attendance / progress or who desires to rejoin the semester after a period of discontinuance or who upon his own request is specially permitted to repeat the semester in order to improve his performance, may be permitted to join the semester for which he is eligible or permitted to join.
i) The students entering MCA must have a (a) Any degree with Mathematics as one of the subjects at 10+2 level and at graduation with not less than 60% marks (excluding languages) in the qualifying examinations.
ii) Subject to the regulation relating to prescribed minimum of the respective qualifying examination, the minimum marks of admission to the course of studies shall be a pass in the case of SC/ST candidates.
iii) Candidates belonging to Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) referred to GO(P)208/66/Edn dated. 2-5-96 and subsequent amendments to order issued by the Government shall be given a relaxation of 2% marks in the prescribed minimum for admission.
iv) A relaxation of 5% marks from the prescribed minimum shall be allowed in the case of physically handicapped persons.
v) Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination in more than one chance in the subject (excluding languages) will have their percentage marks derated at the rate of 5% for every additional appearance for the purpose of ranking.
Candidates with such degrees awarded by the Mahatma Gandhi University or any other degree recognized as equivalent to degrees in i(a) by the Mahatma Gandhi University also are eligible to apply.
Reservation of seats shall be as per rules prescribed in the relevant rules by the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Kerala.
Apart from the regular University curriculum the College provides additional courses to imporove the IT skill of the students to make them competent in the present world of competition. The couses offered are
HTML Website Designing with Photshop / Flash / Dreamweaver / CSS / Soundforge.
Training in Hardware and trouble shooting.
Certification in Networking Technology.
Software Project Development – Combines the theoretical knowledge in computer languages and latest web technologies with their practical applications. Enhances the programming skills.
Aptitude training (Verbal & Non Verbal ) - Prepares the students to attend Placement Drives.
Personality Development Program - Enhances the interpersonality of the student.
