Geology Museum
Our Geology Museum stands out as one of the finest among the colleges affiliated with MG University in the Kottayam district. Housing an impressive array of minerals, rocks, fossils, ore minerals, and semi-precious stones, it has undergone recent renovations to enhance its appeal. The museum now boasts proper classification, labeling, and displays, illuminated by bright lighting and furnished for an enriched experience. The revitalized museum was inaugurated on 07.09.2018, with a ceremony graced by Fr. Sebastian Attichira CMI, Manager of the Kristu Jyoti Group of Institutions, and presided over by Rev. Fr. Joshy Cheeramkuzhy CMI, Principal of Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology. Among the highlights are notable specimens such as large crystals of Quartz, Beryl, Zeolite, and Stone Age tools. Our collection includes samples of igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks, as well as those unique to desert regions, along with various stages of coal formation. Adding to its allure, the museum features an extensive assortment of ore minerals, encompassing iron, copper, manganese, lead, chromium, aluminum, and more. Many of these specimens were acquired during study tours conducted by the Geology Department students, who diligently collected them from various states across India as part of their curriculum. |
